Leadership Tomorrow, a program of the Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation, in partnership with the White Bear Rotary Club and the White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce, has been awarded a grant of $15,000 from the F.R. Bigelow Foundation.
The grant will provide significant financial support towards the second year of the 10-month program, which begins in January 2019.
The Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation developed Leadership Tomorrow with the goal of creating the next generation of community leaders. The 10-month program offers people in the community an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and to increase their awareness of issues, challenges and services in the community. The AWL Group, a leadership development company, delivers the leadership track to equip local high potential people with the competence and confidence to become community leaders for the future.
Local community leaders serve as resources for the program, which includes sessions on government, business and economic development, education, the arts, human services, health and the environment. The 22 participants in the pilot year, which began in January of this year, are diverse in age, and personal and professional experience. As part of the program, each will undertake a project before the end of the year to apply their learning to an issue or idea of their choosing.
