A new area foundation created by local movers and shakers has just launched.
The volunteer team formed the Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation, a nonprofit that will focus on partnerships with local financial advisors, individual and business donors, nonprofit groups and government and school officials.
In a press release provided by foundation Secretary Jackie Reis, the board of directors was listed as Bill Foussard, chairman, Carol McFarlane, vice chairman, Jesse Bengtson, treasurer, Reis and Jessica Bernier, Eunice Cote, Craig Drake, Carter Johnson, Brady Ramsay, John Redpath, Bob Schneeweis and Ryan Steen elected as directors.
Together the directors represent the communities that surround the community’s namesake lake: Birchwood Village, Dellwood, Mahtomedi, White Bear Lake and White Bear Township.
The foundation goal is to educate the community about opportunities to work together through donor-advised funds, designated funds, scholarship programs and agency endowments.
“The community foundation is for everyone,” said Foussard. “It’s a wonderful and effective vehicle that offers people the opportunity to work together on issues they care about and to make a difference, for tomorrow and for years to come.”
