Letter to the Editor by Rob Thomas
I wanted to take a brief moment of your time to talk about charitable giving. On Thursday, Nov. 17, nonprofits across the state will take part in “Give To The Max Day,” an annual day during which tens of thousands of people make financial contributions to the causes about which they’re passionate. I encourage you, on this day dedicated to giving, to think about what you’re passionate about.
Are you passionate about an organization that provides nutritious food and resources for our neighbors who are experiencing a period of need? Please consider a gift to the White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf.
Does an organization that facilitates a vast number of multi-disciplinary visual arts education experiences and provides a home for exquisite and relevant artistic treasures feel like a valuable resource to your community? Consider making a contribution to the White Bear Center for the Arts.
Lovers of history and the keeping, curating and educating about our shared history can give to the White Bear Lake Area Historical Society. The Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation has donors on board that will generously match your donation dollar for dollar until the end of the year!
And, of course, I’d be remiss not to ask you to consider a contribution to Lakeshore Players Theatre, your community stage, to support our efforts in entertaining, educating and enriching the White Bear Lake community. Large or small, a gift to these, or any of the other valuable local organizations whose missions inspire you, will go so far. Thank you and don’t forget to “Give To The Max” on Nov. 17.
